Baby Fever {Kind Of} {Part 2}

Have you ever had baby fever? I have, but not in the
'I want a baby now' sort of way. Definitely not. We talked in this post about how my 'baby fever' really only consists of looking at cute baby pictures and shopping online for the items that come with having a baby.

I still am many, MANY (did I say many?) years away from being ready to have a baby. But that's not stopping me from window shopping online and dreaming up baby nurseries. Nope. Can't stop me. Evidence of my baby fever:

1. Auggie {cutest baby bedding ever}
3. Land of Nod: Hello there precious whale sandwich cutters. Oh whales, I like you. (If you missed it, I confessed my love for whales here).

What If...

So these past few weeks have been quite busy. It's of those weeks where I wish I had an extra 24 hours to tack on to each day...just to get everything done.

I have felt like this past week has not been my shining moment as a blogger. I have started multiple collages for posts, taken pictures, etc. But alas. Those posts are not done yet. Blog fail!

BUT, I have my reasons. Here's a list of excuses things that I've finished in school this past week:

*3 Elevations of Walls (for my Building Construction Class)
*An essay on The New York Five (architects)
*Took a Contemporary Design History exam
*Traveled around campus in a wheelchair, crutches, and a walker. That must have been a sight to see. But seriously, it was so eye-opening. I definitely see the importance of Universal Design now. But we'll talk about that more later!
*Made THIS pup in my Photoshop class:

*Did a Universal Design study guide. Our first exam is tomorrow and we get to bring one page of notes (front and back) to use during our test. Let's just say my paper has no margins and no white space, and size 8 font. Success.

*A million other school things that are not interesting enough to be shared on this blog. It's for your own good.

I did manage to treat myself to some fun outings, however.
One of which was with my two siblings who I love dearly! {my presh sister blogs here!}

So I'm sure we've all felt like we need more hours in the day.
But when I think about it, I'm busy with such good things that I really can't complain :) Life is good.

Stone in Interiors

I've always loved the look of stone on the interior walls of a home. It adds such a warm and inviting aspect to a space (when used in moderation, of course)!

Check out these three lovely spaces that
incorporated stone into their design:

Pink {A Story}

Decor 8 - Sara Hicks Malone's Home
Once upon a time, there was a little girl. She wore tutus to church and princess hats to the grocery store. Her name was Courtney, but she preferred to be called 'Pink Sparkles'.

BHG
And if you were lucky, she'd give you a new name too. Something along the lines of 'Blue Sparkles' or 'Purple Sparkles'.

Now she loves all colors, but is sure that pink will always have a special spot in her heart.

Work Hard & Be Nice To People

5 reasons why I adore this photo:

1. Yellow and gray is the cutest color combination.
2. Industrial accents are always great.
3. 'Work hard and be nice to people'. I like the sound of that.
4. I spy a cute Anthro mug on that table. I love my green one!
5. I can perfectly picture myself feeling right at home having breakfast at this little wooden table.

Happy Friday!

Throw Blanket Roundup

What do stripes, softness, cable-knit,
 pompoms, and alpacas have in common?

Well, I don't actually know the answer to that. But they all made an appearance on my throw blanket roundup today...so they're kinda related, right?

I love all of these. My mom actually has #3, and it is ridiculously soft. Also ridiculously inexpensive at Pier 1, I might add!

Which one is your fave?

Little Things That Brighten My Days

Sometimes, small things can just brighten your day a bit. Little things like extra foamy coffee. Or realizing that your sweater perfectly matches your favorite mug.

Or a precious dog in a pink sweater
...driving a car down the road? Waaait.

Or double scoops of Molly Moons ice cream.

Or looking down to discover a lone Peep sitting in the middle of a walkway. Stranded, alone, and afraid.

Yep...that happened.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

My First Interior Design Studio Project {The Gray's Residence}

Last winter, I had my very first interior design studio class. My first impression of this class was that I loved the textbook. Ha. Loved the textbook...you don't hear that everyday. It was finally becoming real to me that I was in college studying what I'm so passionate about.

Our project for this class was to design a home for 'The Gray's Residence', a family who didn't actually exist. Which was fine by me, because them not existing meant that I could do whatever I wanted with their house ;) And...there was no budget. I was okay with that too.

In this class, we learned to draft floor plans and elevations.
I remember staring at that architectural scale with complete confusion...and feeling so accomplished when I finally completed this project. I have pictures of the floor plans that I drafted somewhere, but I'll have to show those in a later post!

Here are the designs I came up with for three of the rooms:

The above photos were arranged on a powerpoint and turned in when I applied to the interior design major last spring, but for the class we created an actual color board for our final presentation:

So there you have it! The Gray's Residence...complete. I think if they existed, they would have really enjoyed it.

Pssst. Did you see the post where I showed my second studio projectIf you missed it, click here to see it! The second one was the most rewarding, challenging, and time extensive project I've had so far. But from what I've seen from the seniors this year, this was a piece of cake compared to what I have coming for me next year. But I'm looking forward to it regardless and will be sure to show you when I get there!

Calligraphy Love

One thing I would love to do sometime in the next few years is take a calligraphy class. I would say that it's on my bucket list, but truth be told, I don't even have a bucket list. Oops. Guess it's time I make one!

Anyways, I love getting and sending letters. Unfortunately, I rarely get around to doing that. But I love when I do get mail, and I think if I ever received a letter with handwriting this pretty on the front, I might faint.

Maybe someday I will learn to write this beautifully.
 Until then, I'll just admire these :)

I don't think this one is technically calligraphy, but it's too cute not to be included, right?

Do you ever hand-write letters? I probably would a lot more if my handwriting looked like this!

Whale of a Good Time

There's something I've been meaning to tell you all. Something I have yet to share on this little blog of mine, but something that needs to be said.

I love whales.

I really do. The day that I see a whale LEAP out of the water and crash back in is going to be the greatest day of my life.

I've dreamed of that day. Watched countless videos of whales jumping out of the water. Looked through binoculars as a child at my grandparent's beach house, searching for whales in the ocean, exclaiming, "I THINK I SEE ONE"--only to look closer and see that it was simply a large rock. Dreams=shattered.

So yeah, I love whales. Let it be known.

I saved this one for last. I like the idea of bringing my love for whales into my fashion. Just a subtle hint of whale in my wardrobe, like this chic hat. So classy. So versatile.

And with that, I'm going to wrap this post up. But how do you even end a post like this? "So uh...thoughts on whales?" Ha! We'll go with this:

Happy Tuesday! :)
